With single-phase charging, you use one of the three phases of the electricity grid, giving a maximum charging power of about 7.4 kW. Without load balancing, you run the risk of overloading the connection.

In an apartment or with shared parking, charging is more difficult but not impossible. Options include a charging station in an assigned parking space (possibly through the VvE), a charging station in a parking garage, or use of public charging stations in the neighborhood. VvEs can also realize a charging solution collectively; special charging solutions are available for this purpose that support multiple users and settlement per resident.

It depends a lot on the power source. If you charge on solar power or via a 100% green energy contract, then the CO₂ emissions are virtually zero. If you charge on the average Dutch power mix, then electric driving is still considerably cleaner than an average gasoline car - even though some of that power still comes from fossil sources.
