We installed the latest Growatt inverter with a backup function at a home in Heemstede. The existing Growatt inverter has been replaced by this new hybrid model, which controls both the 14 solar panels on the roof and the 15 kWh home battery. One system for generation, storage, and emergency power.
The major step forward is the backup function. Whereas a separate device was previously needed to provide emergency power to the home during a power outage, this function is now built into the inverter itself. If the grid goes down, the system automatically switches over and continues to supply power to the home, up to the inverter’s maximum capacity. Lighting, the refrigerator, the internet, and other essential appliances therefore continue to run as if nothing is wrong.
Apart from power outages, the 15 kWh battery simply does what it’s designed to do every day: store self-generated solar power for the evening and manage fluctuations in electricity prices efficiently. And if a power outage lasts longer, the solar panels can continue to recharge the battery in the meantime.
Because we replaced the existing inverter instead of installing a separate system alongside it, the setup remains streamlined, and everything works together within a single Growatt environment, including monitoring via a single app.
