Project Description

In this project, the client deliberately chose to be more independent from the grid. There are 7 solar panels and a HYXi home battery was installed with 10 kWh storage and full back up, so that the house can continue to run as normal in the event of a power failure.


The setup is immediately prepared for expansion. This battery can be easily scaled up later to 15 or even 20 kWh of storage capacity, without having to rebuild the entire system.


A nice advantage of HYXi is that the inverter power grows along with the battery capacity. At 10 kWh, the system is 6 kW. At 15 kWh, it automatically grows to 9 kW. At 20 kWh to 12 kW. This keeps the charge and discharge rates proportionally strong, which is useful for smart charging, fast discharge and trading at times of low or high energy prices.


For the back up strategy, the customer uses a simple setting in the app. In winter, 50 percent spare capacity remains available by default because there is less sun. In summer, this can go to 0 percent because the battery is automatically refilled with solar energy almost daily anyway. Thus, this family is practically always prepared for a power outage.
